Dr. Sumant Swain

Assistant Professor

Dr. Sumant Kumar Swain has a background in social sciences and awarded M Phil and Ph.D from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India. Before joining IIHMR-Delhi, he has worked with NCERT, New Delhi, India. Dr. Swain has more than fifteen years of experience in national health programme evaluations, operational and formative research projects using both qualitative and quantitative methods in various health and social programmes. He was a visiting scholar at the Institute of Oriental Studies under Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia in different assignments under Indo-Russian Cultural Exchange Program by Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR), Government of India. He has published one book, seven edited books and many research papers in different disciplines. His areas of interest are health survey research, implementation research, programme evaluation, project management, monitoring & evaluation, NGO management, health system research, health governance and health security.

  • Presented a paper on “Climate change impact on Indian economy and health: Policies, programmes and sustainable action in a technical session at the International Conference titled "Society, Environment and Sustainable Development: Emerging Issues and Alternatives” from 20th to 22nd March 2024 as a part of 3rd Chandigarh Climate Meet organized by Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID), Chandigarh with the support from the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi.
