MoU   Upcoming Programs

IIHMR Delhi inaugurated its Satellite Centre at AMTZ Campus, Visakhapatnam, A.P., on 13th Dec 2025, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries. The collaboration between the International Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) and the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), through the Indian Biomedical Skill Consortium (IBSC), will combine healthcare management and medical engineering. This partnership aims to close the skills gap in India’s medical technology sector by providing training programs, internships, Placements and certifications for students and healthcare professionals. By using AMTZ’s top-notch manufacturing facilities in Visakhapatnam, which include centres for 3D printing, biomaterial testing, and gamma irradiation, along with IIHMR’s knowledge in hospital and health management, the collaboration seeks to create a new generation of tech-savvy administrators and biomedical engineers.

This teamwork will be key to making India a global centre for affordable medical technology and efficient healthcare delivery.

Objective of the IIHMR- AMTZ Satellite Centre:

  1. Conduct skill-based training programs on Medical Device Management in collaboration with AMTZ that will bridge medical device engineering and management skills, and train professionals in maintaining and managing sophisticated medical equipment.
  2. To contribute to capacity building by creating a workforce that will transform the medical device sector by 2047
  3. To run Certificate courses in Medical Device Management – Online certificate programmes in Supply Chain Management / Medical Device Inventory Management / Health Technology Assessment.
  4. Academic-Industry Integration by giving IIHMR students direct access to AMTZ’s 165+ manufacturing units for real-world experience with the medical device lifecycle.
  5. Expose our students to the Med tech sector as part of nd fit easily into hospital workflows. their Academic Immersion program/Summer Internships/ Placements.
  6. Collaborating with the Kalam Institute of Health Technology (KIHT) helps support the "Make in India" initiative. This effort focuses on reducing reliance on imported high-end medical devices.
  7. Combining management research with technical innovation to make sure that new medical technologies are affordable and fit easily into hospital workflows.

AMTZ is India’s premier medical technology park with common Manufacturing Facilities & common Scientific Facilities that include specialized laboratories, warehousing, and testing centers such as the Center for Electromagnetic Compatibility and Safety Testing, Center for Biomaterial Testing, Center for 3-D Printing, Centers for Lasers, MRI Super Conducting Magnets, Gamma Irradiation Centre, Mold & Machining Centre, and many other industrial service centers. Built in a record time of 342 days, Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone showcases modern India as a leader in the medical technology global stage.

Andhra Pradesh Medical Technology Zone is one of the world’s largest medical technology manufacturing clusters with over 169 companies working on research, development and production of life-saving medical devices.

Indian Biomedical Skill Council (IBSC) was established by AMTZ and recognized by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. IBSC is a national-level body dedicated to competency-based certification and training in biomedical engineering skills. With over 169 MedTech industries operating in the AMTZ campus, this offers an ideal ecosystem for hands-on learning and industry exposure. IBSC aims to strengthen the Biomedical Skill Sector in the country and, with this objective, develops job roles and is approved by the National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) and aligned with the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE)
