Vital Strategies’ Data Impact Program (DIP), together with the International Institute Of Health Management Research Delhi (IIHMR), will co-organize a regional Gender Data Analysis for Policy Development Program to support government stakeholders from Asian-Pacific countries to complete a gender equity-related data analysis and use project, as part of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Data for Health Initiative.

As part of this Program, an in-person workshop will be held from October 17-19, 2023 in Delhi, India.

A maximum of 24 participants will be selected from up to 8 countries (no more than three staff from each respective country). Those selected may come from a mix of government agencies (e.g., Ministry of Health, Ministry of Gender & Social Affairs, Ministry of Women’s Affairs, National Statistics Offices) in the Asia-Pacific region, and must be working on strengthening gender equity within a specific area of public health.

The goal is for countries to address a specific public health topic of interest that is relevant to gender equity, analyze readily available routine or other relevant data, and present findings to key decision-makers to inform policy or programmatic change. Availability and access to data (including disaggregated data by sex and/or gender) on the chosen topic for analysis and use are essential. No funding is available for primary data collection. The country teams will be mentored to develop a policy brief as an output, using gender data analysis.

Participants will receive support from D4H partners and relevant experts, who will provide a hybrid of virtual and in-person mentorship and training. During the in-person workshop, participants will have the opportunity to network with other groups and their mentors, discuss their projects and take part in training on key concepts and skills relevant to the successful completion of their projects. The travel and other related costs for attending the workshop in New Delhi will be supported by Vital Strategies’ Data Impact program.

The program and the in-person workshop will be implemented in English. Applicants are required to show evidence of a valid passport with an expiry date beyond April 2024 and proof of complete COVID-19 vaccination.

The deadline for applications is June 30, 2023.
