The FPM programme consists of two phases. The first phase of the programme involves course work, followed by a Comprehensive Course Evaluation. The second phase requires scholars to work on their thesis, which involves the preparation of a thesis proposal, writing of the thesis, and finally a viva examination based on the thesis.

Duration for Learning credits
All the credits specified above shall be earned within a maximum of three years from the date of admission to the programme. Extension after the three years shall be approved by the Committee for a period of one year with a review of progress every six months. Final approval shall be given by the
Director of the Institution.
Credit Course Requirement
The candidate shall undergo the courses as given in the course credit table. In the first year, a total of 42 credits is required, which includes a 3-credit general seminar in the second semester and stream specific compulsory and elective courses other than general courses. In the second year, the student shall earn 18 credits: in the third semester the candidate shall undergo advanced courses related to research methods and conduct a stream specific seminar of 3 credits.
